Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 29, 2026

1Introduction

CLASSARK ("we", "our", or "us") operates an online learning management platform at classark.com. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use and protect it.

By creating an account or using the CLASSARK platform, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

2Information We Collect

Account Information

When an account is created (either by you or by an administrator on your behalf), we collect your email address, display name, and any profile information you provide.

Usage and Activity Data

We collect information about how you use the platform, including:

  • Courses you are enrolled in or teach
  • Lessons viewed and progress records
  • Quiz attempts and scores
  • Assignment submissions and feedback
  • Alerts and notifications you receive

Content You Submit

This includes quiz answers, written assignment submissions, files you upload, and any other content you create within the platform.

Technical Data

We automatically collect your IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and log data when you access CLASSARK.

3How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Deliver course content and track learning progress
  • Send transactional emails (account creation, password resets, enrollment confirmations, assignment notifications)
  • Send announcement emails and occasional product updates, which you can unsubscribe from at any time (see "Emails We Send" below)
  • Allow teachers and administrators to manage enrollments and review submissions
  • Generate alerts about course activity and administrative events
  • Administer subscriptions and billing
  • Diagnose technical issues and improve the platform
  • Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal data to third parties or use it for advertising purposes.

4Emails We Send

We send three kinds of email to the address on your account:

Account Emails

Messages needed to run your account, such as sign-in links, password resets, and account creation notices. These are part of the service, so you cannot unsubscribe from them while you have an account.

Announcement Emails

Email copies of announcements that your teachers or CLASSARK administrators send to courses you belong to.

Product Updates and News

Occasional messages from CLASSARK about new features, important changes to the service, and related news. We do not send advertising on behalf of third parties.

Unsubscribing

You can stop announcement emails, product updates, or both at any time, without logging in:

  • Click the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of these emails
  • Use the unsubscribe button your email app shows next to our messages (for example in Gmail)
  • When signed in, open the profile menu and choose Email Preferences

Your choice takes effect immediately, and you can resubscribe the same way. To remember your choice we keep your email address and your preferences. We also record when our email provider stops delivering to an address because messages bounced or were reported as spam. We do not track whether you open announcement or product update emails.

These emails are sent from [email protected], which does not accept replies. For help, contact [email protected].

5How We Share Your Information

We share your data only in the following circumstances:

Within Your Course

Teachers, co-teachers, and assistants enrolled in a course can see your name, enrollment status, and submitted work for that course. Other students cannot see your submissions.

To help diagnose problems, respond to support requests, and keep the platform running smoothly, authorised CLASSARK support staff may access your account and course data, including content you have submitted, on your behalf.

Support access is limited to what is reasonably necessary to investigate or resolve the matter at hand, is logged, and is only carried out by trained personnel who are bound by confidentiality obligations. We do not access your account for any purpose other than providing support, maintaining platform security, or complying with legal obligations.

7Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure hosted in the European Union (europe-west1 region). We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, accidental loss, or destruction, including:

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8Data Retention

We retain your account data and activity records for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If a subscription lapses, account data is retained for a reasonable period to allow reactivation before deletion.

Upon a verified deletion request, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by applicable law.

Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
