Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: August 30, 2026

1Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines the rules of conduct for all users of the CLASSARK platform. It applies to teachers, co-teachers, assistants, students, and administrators alike.

By using CLASSARK, you agree to comply with this AUP. Violations may result in suspension or permanent termination of your account, and may be reported to relevant authorities where legally required.

2Permitted Uses

You may use CLASSARK to:

  • Create, organise, and deliver educational courses and content
  • Enrol in and participate in authorised courses
  • Submit assignments, quizzes, and written work in good faith
  • Communicate with course participants through platform features
  • Upload educational materials you own or have rights to share
  • Manage student enrolments and subscription plans (for admins)

3Prohibited Content

You must not upload, post, share, or transmit content that:

  • Is illegal, fraudulent, or violates any applicable law
  • Is defamatory, threatening, abusive, hateful, discriminatory, or harassing
  • Contains sexually explicit material or is otherwise inappropriate for an educational environment
  • Infringes any third-party intellectual property rights (copyright, trademark, patents)
  • Contains malware, viruses, spyware, or any other malicious code
  • Constitutes spam, unsolicited advertising, or promotional material unrelated to the course
  • Misrepresents your identity or impersonates another person or organisation
  • Violates the privacy of other users (e.g., sharing personal information without consent)

4Prohibited Actions

You must not:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, system, or network connected to CLASSARK
  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the platform without our written authorisation
  • Use automated scripts, bots, or crawlers to interact with the platform
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features of the platform
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the platform
  • Use the platform to collect or harvest data about other users without their consent
  • Share your login credentials with others or use another person's account
  • Use the platform in any way that places an unreasonable load on our infrastructure
  • Exceed your subscription plan's student, assistant, or storage allowance by more than a reasonable margin, or otherwise use the service in a way that is inconsistent with the plan you pay for (see “Plan Limits and Fair Use” below)

5Plan Limits and Fair Use

Each subscription plan includes an allowance of enrolled students, assistant seats, and shared storage, as shown on our Pricing page. So that your courses are never interrupted, these allowances are not enforced as hard technical limits — the platform will not stop you from adding students, assistants, or content once an allowance is reached.

Instead, we monitor account usage against the subscribed plan, and the following applies:

  • Occasional or modest overages — as a guideline, up to about 15% above any individual plan allowance for students, storage, or assistants — are acceptable and will not, by themselves, result in enforcement action. Each allowance is assessed independently.
  • Usage that consistently or substantially exceeds your plan beyond that margin is considered abuse of the service. We will normally contact you first to arrange an upgrade to a plan that matches your usage.
  • If the overage is not resolved — by upgrading or by reducing usage — we may suspend or terminate the account and may bill for the excess usage.
  • Deliberately structuring accounts to avoid paying for the plan that matches actual usage (for example, splitting one institution across multiple lower-tier accounts) is also a violation of this policy.

6Academic Integrity

CLASSARK is an educational platform. Users are expected to uphold academic honesty in all submitted work. This means:

  • Submitting original work unless the course explicitly permits collaboration
  • Not sharing quiz questions, answers, or assignment solutions with other students who have not yet completed them
  • Not impersonating another student or submitting work on another person's behalf
  • Properly attributing sources and materials used in submitted work

Teachers and administrators retain the right to flag or investigate suspected integrity violations within their courses.

7Copyright and Intellectual Property

You must only upload or share content that you own or have the legal right to use. This includes:

  • Obtaining proper licences for any third-party materials (images, videos, text) before uploading them
  • Not uploading copyrighted textbooks, journal articles, or other protected materials without authorisation

If you believe content on the platform infringes your copyright, please contact us at [email protected] with details of the alleged infringement.

8Reporting Violations

If you encounter content or behaviour that violates this AUP, please report it to us at [email protected]. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.

You will not face retaliation for making a good-faith report of an AUP violation.

9Enforcement

CLASSARK reserves the right to take action against any user who violates this AUP, at our sole discretion. Actions may include:

  • Issuing a warning
  • Removing offending content
  • Requiring an upgrade to a higher plan, or billing for usage above your plan's allowance
  • Temporarily suspending account access
  • Permanently terminating the account
  • Reporting the user to law enforcement where required by law

We are not obligated to provide advance notice before taking enforcement action in cases of serious or repeated violations.

10Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
